We at Design Force are currently in mourning. Our beloved designer Rachel has started on her quest to discover whether she really does want to be a teacher, which means we’re left with some pretty big shoes to fill. Metaphorically speaking that is. If her feet really were this big she’d be constantly tripping over them and buying shoes would be impossible...

So now we’re on a quest of our own: to find a New Rachel. Could you be our New Rachel? If you can tick all the boxes on our ‘New Rachel Wishlist’, chances are you could.

To be our New Rachel, you’ll need to have at least 3 years’ experience and must be able to:
• Think creatively and generate ideas, on your own and as part of a team
• Turn your ideas into gorgeously crafted design work – for both printed and digital media
• Manage projects from brief to delivery, including liaising directly with clients
• Do great things with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop)
• Wow us with the concepts and design work in your book
• Keep up
• Make a decent cuppa*

Your role

What we want you to bring

Minimum 3-4 years graphic design experience
Experience of working in a similar fast-paced environment
Excellent working knowledge of the Adobe creative suite,Illustrator, Photoshop, In-Design
Ability to visualize then develop creative stimulus
Experience of design for online and print production and the live environment
Proven track record of producing innovative design solutions that deliver to clients’ objectives
Good copywriting and verbal communication skills
Strong people and project management skills

Design Force creates "Protect" newsletter for NP Personal Protection

Design Force has created the first in a series of newsletters for client NP Personal Protection. "Protect" highlights news on garment and amour designs as well as focusing on key aspects of research and personal protection for police body armour. Targeting procurement decision makers for police forces across the country, "Protect" will keep constabularies up to date on what NP Personal Protection is able to do for the country's policemen and women.

We help Kleeneze break free!

One of the country’s longest established and most successful shop-from-home companies has introduced a new suite of business development tools with our help.

Kleeneze, based in Accrington, is famous for its home, health & beauty, cookery and seasonal ranges. The company has built its business around distributors circulating catalogues and collecting orders from consumers in their community.

With Kleeneze ambitious to grow across 2011, it commissioned Design Force to create a suite of business development tools that would enable existing Kleeneze distributors to recruit additional support to expand their sales area.

Simon says “Break Free” highlighted both the commercial strength of the Kleeneze business model and the quality and diversity of the company’s product ranges. “In many ways, we have positioned Kleeneze’s products at the centre of the story. Millions of consumers every year recognise that much of the Kleeneze range is unique – and this is an important element of attracting new people to help sell the range.”

Kleeneze’s Head of Marketing Chris Hinds said we had captured the essence of what the company’s proposition and personality was all about. “Ultimately, our business is built around our distributors and their dedication to providing a great service to customers, teamed with their enthusiasm for sharing the business opportunity with others. Design Force understood the importance of this, and have helped us articulate this message simply, powerfully and effectively.”

Design Force’s Gateway to success

Design Force has secured the tender to supply regional social housing provider, Community Gateway Association (CGA) with design and print management services.

CGA was set up to meet the housing needs of the people of Preston and its surrounding areas. In addition to providing quality homes, the Association’s core mission is to create friendly communities where people want to live.

Design Force Director Simon Brindle welcomed the opportunity, adding, “It’s always great to win new business and we’ve already embarked on an urgent project for them, so we’re high on adrenaline right now! It’ll be great fun working together. CGA communicates with its clients through a variety of media, the kind of diversity on which we thrive.”

CGA have said that they are delighted to appoint Design Force as part of the Association’s new Graphics and Print Framework.

CGA’s Communications Manager, Robin Ridgeley explained why Design Force had been chosen. “Design Force gave an inspiring presentation that showed the innovation and creativity we were looking for, whilst meeting our need to achieve best value for money. It’s fantastic that Design Force is a Preston based agency, which re-enforces CGA's commitment to use local companies as much as possible. We look forward to working with the team at Design Force.”

The contract will run for three years and will allow CGA to work with designers to develop innovative communications for both its customers and staff.

Design Force connects with CMS

Design Force has secured the contract to create the next generation of corporate literature for a globally successful manufacturer and service provider of hospital medical gas systems.

Connect Medical Systems, based in Oldham, supplies hospitals around the world with a comprehensive range of air and vacuum solutions, pendants, valves and service units.

With a major trade exhibition – Arab Health, in Dubai - on the horizon at the end of January, CMS turned to Design Force to develop a new stand for the company and new literature to highlight the firm’s credentials.

Commenting, CMS director David Wood says that the with over 80% of the company’s orders coming from overseas buyers, it was important to ensure that the business projected the right image and gave the right messages to its markets.

“We need to communicate to a diverse mix of decision makers from around the world not just that our products meet their needs, but also that our focus on service quality, maintenance and customer-involved innovation is of the highest possible standard. Design Force showed us that they had a good grasp of what our priorities were, and we look forward to working with them.”

Charlton signs for Design Force

Readers of a certain age will recognise the rather weak attempt in this headline to link the appointment of Dean Charlton as Design Force's new studio manager with a certain World Cup winning footballer. It still makes a reasonable headline, though!

Speaking of heads, Sir Bobby continues to sport one of the most famous comb-overs yet witnessed by modern man. While he may not have the football prowess of his namesake, our Dean goes one better than SBC in a critical area with his chrome dome look.

"He may be folically challenged, but he's a fantastic designer and a vastly experienced studio manager", says Simon. "We've known about Dean and his skills for quite some time, so I'm delighted that he's now on board."

Dean says he's looking forward to the challenge. "Today's design studios need to get under the skin of their customers, and fuse creativity with a real empathy for the client's proposition and the language they use. Design Force will be focusing even more on these things in the coming months as we seek to help our clients get where they want to go."

2011 is going to be a HUGE year for us!

2011 has seen Design Force move to fantastic new offices in a beautiful rural setting, close to the motorway network and five minutes from Preston city centre.

We’ve also got some talented new faces joining the Design Force line-up over the coming weeks, so keep your eye on the web site for these new and exciting developments.
